Lake States Mud Racers Election

The Lake States Mud Racers will be electing new officers this year. The elections will be held in Hurley WI at the Holiday Inn conference room, next to Pete's Place Bar on Sunday October 23, 2011 at 6:00 pm.

Come out and vote for the officers you want to represent you, or if you're interested, run for the positions yourself.

If you're interested in serving as a committee member, you may sign up at the same time.

Lake States Mud Racers at Gogebic County Fair 2011

The fifth racing event of 2011 for the Lake States Mud Racers will be held during the 2011 Gogebic County Fair in Ironwood MI. The fair runs from August 11 through August 14, 2011 and is the 90th Annual running.

We know how much you like our night races, so we've changed our schedule this year and moved our Ironwood event to the evening, starting at 5:00 PM and finishing under the lights. Night racing just makes our sport even that much more exciting, so while your enjoying the fair we hope you check out our mud racing event, we're sure you won't be disappointed.

Lake States Mud Racers at Iron County Fair 2011

The fourth mud racing event of the year for the Lake States Mud Racers will be held in Saxon WI on August 6, 2011. The mud racing is held during the Iron County Fair, the fair runs August 4 through August 7, 2011. Fairs are always a great place to bring the family and mud racing can be enjoyed by all ages, so while you're enjoying the fair be sure to check out our mud racing event. The Lake States Mud Racers always put on an exciting and well run show, with fast trucks and lots of mud slinging.

Registration for the Saxon event is at 12:00 p.m.
Racing at 2:00 p.m.

Lake States Mud Racers at Butternut Pioneer Days

The third mud racing event of the year for the Lake States Mud Racers will be held in Butternut WI on July 30th. The mud racing is held during the Pioneer Days celebration which runs from July 29 to July 31, 2011. There's a lot going on in Butternut this weekend, so if you're in town enjoying the festivities be sure to check out our mud racing event. The Lake States Mud Racers always put on an exciting and well run show. With 5 racing divisions, there's always a lot of fast trucks and flying mud.

Bessemer Blast 2011 Mud Racing

The second mud racing event of the year for the Lake States Mud Racers will be held in Bessemer MI on July 3rd. The mud racing is part of the 'Bessemer Blast 2011' 4th of July celebration. There's always a lot going in Bessemer during the week leading up to the 4th. If you're in town enjoying the festivities make sure to check out our mud racing event. Lake States Mud Racers 2011 Season Gearing Up

It's almost time for the 2011 race season to start for the Lake States Mud Racers. We've had some very exciting and close points races the last 2 years with come from behind wins and championships being decided by a few points. We're sure this season will be just as exciting. Our mud racing season starts on June 11 with the 2nd Annual event in Sanborn WI and of course our season wraps up under the lights with the ever-so-exciting finale in Marengo WI. Lake States Mud Racers has 5 divisions of racing: Street Stock, Super Stock, Women's Super Stock, Mod I, Mod II, plus Stock and Unlimited. We've had good participation in the Stock class which really adds nicely to our field of racers. Think you've got a fast factory stock street truck? Put it to the test in our mud pits!
And we can't forget the Women's Super Stock Class. These gals are hard and fierce racers who aren't afraid to get dirty. No guys allowed in this class, just women against women in Stock and Super Stock trucks.
Our fastest mud racers are the Mod I and Mod II classes and can only be described as rockets on wheels. These racers fly through the 200 foot long mud pit in just 3-4 seconds! I'm getting excited just thinking about it!
As usual we'd like to thank all the racers who participate, the fans who cheer them on, our volunteers that make it all happen, we couldn't do it without you. To all who participate, here's a much deserved Thank You!

Lake States 2010 Mud Racing Season Winds Down

The Lake States Mud Racers 2010 schedule is coming to a close with a full weekend of back to back racing. The first of the 2 race events will be in Glidden WI on September 4, 2010.
Registration for the Glidden race: 9:00 AM-11:00 AM
Racing: 12:00 PM
Then on September 5, 2010 our season finale will be run in Marengo WI.

Registration for the Marengo race: 3:00 PM-5:00 PM
Racing: 6:00 PM

The Glidden WI mud racing event is their 20th Annual and the scenic mud pit in close view of the stands always brings in a nice crowd.
If you're a Lake States racer or one of our many fans you know that our packed stands season finale in Marengo WI is by far our most exciting event. Run during the Ashland County Fair, the racing is at night under the lights which really adds to the excitement.
We know our regular fans and racers will be there but if you haven't seen or raced one of our mud racing events, the Marengo WI show is surely the one you will not want to miss.

We would like to thank all of the racers and fans for their season long support and look forward to providing everyone with great racing action again in 2011.

The Lake States Mud Racers have nearly a month off after the second event but our third race of the year is now only 12 days away. On June 24, 2010, the Lake States Mud Racers Organization will be putting on the Second Annual mud racing event in Butternut WI.

Opening day race for Lake States Mud Racers

The long anticipated 2010 season opener for the Lake States Mud Racers is finally here. It's interesting going into a fresh season with a brand new race and pit which will raise some questions such as: how smooth will it be, how rough be will it be, how wet, how deep, there's lot of variables.
Registration for our June 12, 2010 Sanborn WI mud race runs from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, racing starts at 1:00 PM.

Lake States Mud Racers 2010 season opener

It's less than 30 days until the season opening race for the Lake States Mud Racers. The season opener is a first time mud racing event and is scheduled for June 12, 2010 in Sanborn WI. Registration: 10:00-12:00. Racing: at 1:00.

The Lake States Mud Racers provide a great race show that's sure to please young and old alike. Fast trucks, lots of mud and a great crowd, what more could you ask for?

The Lake States Mud Racers cover Northern WI and Upper MI and have 5 classes of racing: Street Stock, Super Stock, Women's Super Stock, Mod I and Mod II, plus Stock and Unlimited.

If you are planning on attending any of our racing events please take a few minutes to read the General Rules and Regulations as well as the class specific race rules.

We're expecting a good racer turnout but if you're undecided on whether you'll attend or not, here's a thought that may persuade you, you only have one chance to become the first time winner at a first time event.

The 2010 race season is rapidly approaching

It may seem like a long way off until the season opener for the Lake States Mud Racers but it will be here quicker than you think. A lot of preparation goes into a racer for a seasons worth of racing and it's easy to underestimate the time involved. I'm sure many of you are ready and waiting but there's probably some who are wrapping up a few or many loose ends.

If you're ready and waiting, good for you. If you've still got a long a way to go, I know what it's like. In my years of racing it was not uncommon to be putting in the motor the night before opening night or wrenching on the car on the trailer before it went to the track.

Here's a word to the wise, don't be like me, it makes for long season and it seems as if you never get back on top of things. Yes, I know it's easier said than done but I wouldn't be saying it hadn't I gone through it myself. I have faith though, and know I will see everyone out and ready on opening day.

I'm really looking forward to the Lake States Mud Racers opening event, I know it's going to be as exciting as usual and I'd like to wish the best to all the racers for the 2010 season and hope to see you all at the races.

Women mud drag racers

Women mud racers race in a women only Super Stock Class. I can say I've watched the women race and they drive just as hard and are as serious about racing as any of the guys. I've really been impressed with the women, I think they do great.

If there's any women out there that have been contemplating racing but think you'd have to compete against the guys, we may have the answer to your racing dreams. The Lake States Mud Racers have a Women's Super Stock Class, women against women, no guys allowed! Think of it as mud wrestling, but with fast trucks....and no wrestling.

Seriously, the Women's Super Stock Class of the Lake States Mud Racers is a great bunch of racers, they drive hard and keep it straight through the pit.

The women compete at each event, so check out our schedule and if you get a chance this summer, stop by one of our racing events, there's always a good crowd and lots of racers.

What is mud drag racing

One thing that mud racing is not, is boring. Before I had ever seen a mud drag race I had pre-judged and thought I wouldn't like it and it would be boring. In 2009 I started helping a friend of mine who races a mud racer and after my first night of watching the mud drags, I was hooked. To be honest, I never thought of mud racing as something I'd be interested in, as I'm not a big fan of 1/4 mile racing.
I have an 11 year background in local Saturday Night dirt tracks, so I don't know if it's the fact that it's drag racing in the mud or what it is, all I know for sure is that I can't wait for the 2010 season opener for the Lake States Mud Racers.
The Lake States Mud Racers is a local racing organization that serves Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Races run back to back, fast and smooth. This racing is done right. The Lake States Mud Racers have 5 racing divisions: Street Stock, Super Stock, Womens Super Stock, Mod I, Mod II plus Stock and Unlimited.
So, what is mud drag racing? It's flat out drag racing through a 200 foot long pit filled with about 20 inches of wet, gooey mud. Plus, there are some high powered trucks out there can can be compared to nothing less than 'rockets'.
The season opener for the Lake States Mud Racers will be a first time mud racing event in Sanborn WI on June 12, 2010.
Now of course I can't guarantee that everyone will enjoy the excitement of mud racing but if you're a dirt racing fan and you're sitting at home bored, why not check out a Lake States Mud Racers event, if you're still bored you really haven't lost anything, but who knows, you just may become a new fan.
